I saw vegetarian options. Im not completely sure about vegan but I believe so
You must enter through the street- side entrance that is shared with another restaurant then go through the back entrance to the Cafe. There are no steps using this entry.. the side entrance facing their parking lot does have several steps .
Whenever my mom comes to visit, we always go to Cafe de Bangkok, we love the variety of sushi and all the Thai and Japanese appetizers. Looking out over the Kennebec River is always the best way to enjoy a meal too. They never disappoint!
service was great, food was amazing, overall a great experience! :)
Nice food, very dirty
I love everything about dining at cafe de Bangkok! Big menu full of tasty finds, sweet staff members and beautiful views of the Kennebec river! Try the chive dumplings and thank me later! 😉
Loved the sushi here! Really great appetizer options.
This used to be AMAZING, but now if you get a dish that doesn't completely disappoint, you're satisfied.
Server was unable to follow instructions about the timing of what should arrive when, the food was mediocre. Soup was very bland. I come back here every several years, just to see if it's worth coming back and it just never is.
We ordered sushi to go and waited almost an hour to get out food. The sushi was warm and not fresh. Sushi should be served cold. Somebody is going to get sick.
Great food, authentic flavors etc. Tastes like I remember where traveling in Thailand. The Matcha green tea ice cream is a good way to complete the meal.
I have been going to this place for years always with good service and food. Tonight's order will be my last one. Food is always 30 minutes past the suggested (30 minute)wait time with an empty restaurant, over an hour is way to long to wait for RAW FISH, the owners are rude and have never apologized for any of their mistakes. I would not recommend this place
Food is quick and tasty and affordable. Nice views, too!
It's getting better
I love the crazy noodle and hot sake. The restaurant itself is a little odd, very open and poor acoustics. Wait staff has always been good. I do prefer to get takeout.
Great wait staff and amazing food
Great place, good food, reasonable pricing.
I don’t even write reviews but my experience here was that awful, the sushi chef did a good job with the rolls we ordered and that’s the only positive thing I have to say. We ordered noodles, were given rice we let it slide, he took our sushi order down wrong and brought us a roll we didn’t order, there was 5 tables inside total with 2 servers and we got a calamari appetizer 45mins into the meal after asking for it we were told the kitchen was backed up. The few tables around us were disgruntled it seemed like and the sushi chef brought us more food than our server.
I visited in late June. The carryout service was excellent. The salad was great. The sushi was not fresh, did not look fresh and tasted super fishy from past prime decomposition.
Excellent place..with excellent view and really tasty food. Dinner portions are apt and options are plenty. Spice levels are higher so go for mild to no spice !!
The place and view from the restaurant is amazing ,We can view Kennebec river which flows beside :) Good for a place to date some one ..But the portion which is served for dinner is very less ,They can improve on that. But over all taste and service was good.
Great food and service. The sushi rolls were fresh and delicious. Was happy to find this place with a great view along the river
Fabulous Thai! Bubble tea in tons of flavors, huge variety of food dishes, pleasant, kind, attentive staff. Beautiful location on water. Every table has a view.
Amazing sushi! Great service!
I've been to Cafe De Bangkok several times and it's always been enjoyable. The sushi is fresh and made in front of you, the noodles are tasty, and the service is helpful. Definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for Thai.
Good friendly service, good food.
Food was great service was ok pricing was fair. Beautiful relaxing environment.
Wonderful food, reasonable price with lots of authentic flavors. Attentive and friendly service. Great views of the Kennebec river. Overall a great experience I plan to repeat many times in the near future.
Best pad thai around. Pineapple rice is amazing along with the Harry roll.
Best Thai food in the Augusta area. Can't get enough bubble tea.
We got the lobster crazy noodles and yellow curry with shrimp, as well as a salmon avocado roll to share. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our service was friendly, helpful, and quick. We would definitely go back!
Beautiful setting. Spaced seating and a glorious view of the river. ^-^ 10 out of 10 would come here again.
I got a fairly small portion and I was expecting more ... and there was only one waiter for the whole place ... but the food was very delicious and very good presentation and fast and I loved the beer definitely I'll come back to try the teriyaki salmon.
I got take-out and asked them to minimize plastic and they gave me almost all PAPER containers --you know the old Chinese food ones from way back that work awesome and biodegrade!! And the food was really good. I think the food is better than it was several months ago. It was delicious. The yellow curry was dreamy and the noodles were really fine. But the fact that I didn't have to be responsible for eight or so plastic containers is the very best of all! Love them. Everyone offering take-out should go the same.
Fresh ingredients, creative preparation, and excellent service keep this restaurant at the top of my list! I miss seeing Ken & Tan, but the Cafe is still my favorite Thai place in Central Maine. If you visit for lunch definitely try the sushi lunchbox. Get a window seat and enjoy the river views, waterfowl, and Bald Eagles!
We enjoyed our lunch of pad Thai and pineapple fried rice. The service was quick and the server was very friendly and helpful. Nice setting on the banks of the Kennebec.
I find that going during the not so busy hours is perfect. You get great seats, service and food. Monday and Tuesday nights after 6:30 are the best. Weekends 3-5 or 6-8
We were there for an hour and a half and saw our sever only twice. When he initially got to the table he said, "oh, I didn't even see you there." But was serving people on each side of us. We were polite and appropriately dressed and even tried talking with him but he would only talk with myself and not my boyfriend. The talbles around us got his constant attention. They came later and were served first and attended to more often. When we finally received our check 20 minutes after we had finished eating we set for another 20 minutes waiting for him to pick up our card to pay and watched him pick up every other tables card ignoring us. I hate to call this a race related issue but he wouldn't speak with my boyfriend, place food on his side of the table, look at him, or interact with him in any manner. It is unfortunate that we still have to face this in 2019. The food was fantastic though.
Very slow, although waitress was very friendly. We used to come here a lot, loved it, but it is not up to the food standards that it used to be. Was unimpressed with my sushi roll, and this was the previous draw. We, after not seeing a waitress throughout our entire meal, and waiting for more than 20 minutes, went to the cash register with no tab, and they just told us to have a nice day. No realization of the fact that we had not gotten a bill, nor had we paid. The option of dessert, which is on their menu, was not offered. Sorry to say, was better under previous management.
My experiences here are always hit or miss. The food is always excellent but within the last six months the service has been really hit or miss with long wait times and occasionally inexperienced waitstaff.. Richard always provides excellent service though and does an excellent job!
I’ve only been here for lunch. I always get the lunch box which is served on a partitioned tray. The food has always been and still is delicious. The portions on the tray are perfect size. I do not like huge portions. I always feel like I am eating healthier here. Since they have been under new ownership, the restaurant has been cleaned up and looks much better. Now they could use more decorations to give it a more Thai feel. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back again.
The food was excellent - fresh and deliciously prepared. Our waiter Richard was great and offered a lot of helpful suggestions. We're looking forward to going back.
This place has a great view and a nice ambiance. They seemed to be a bit understaffed for their dinner time rush but the food did still manage to come out quickly. I was impressed with the Takoyaki. I could have done without the flakes they put on top of them tho, they added a weird texture. I also had the crazy noodle with pork. It was nice and spicy which I loved but I ended up picking the meat out and leaving the rest of the noodles since I was full. I would go back and try this place again.
My favorite server works here. The food is excellent.
This place was well reviewed on Google and on findmeglutenfree. I was excited to try it out since I have celiac disease however when I went to visit the waiter had no idea what was gluten free ( even though it's marked on the menu), suggested that I eat things that were not gluten free, and when I asked if they had a wheat free soy substitute like tamari, he didn't know. It is totally okay that he didn't know all the answers, but unfortunately he had no interest in finding out the answers and just kept saying things like "I think so" and "I can make a suggestion to the chef". I explained that I couldn't just assume and that I needed answers to these questions but he didn't take me seriously and just kept coming back and asking if I was ready to order. We, unfortunately, ended up leaving without ordering.
Just ate shrimp and noodles and im extremely sick within 30 minutes of leaving. I would not recommend this retaurant to anybody.
My husband and I love this restaurant. The food and service is top notch
Good sushi! Loved the fish tank!
We had not gone to the Café in some time, so we were truly looking forward for an awesome time. In short, the food was terrible. My pad Thai noodles were reheated in the microwave and my husband’s meal had not flavor, our waiter had no personality and when I went to the bathroom, it was disgusting. Imagine the kitchen. Later we learned the restaurant had changed owners. Never going back again.
Worst experience ever they call themselves a sushi restaurant but they cant take the crab skin and shell off before they roll it. Totally disgusting the poor excuse of a chef said he wouldn't refund me. I even explained that me and my fiance go out to sushi alot and I have never been more mortified at a "sushi" restaurant I've had better sushi at a buffet. Very poor customer service. The front desk lady said the owner wasnt there to speak to me then the "chef" all of a sudden could get me on the phone with him. Once again very poor customer service.
Excellent service, food was hot and fresh. Portions were large so yay, Leftovers! We will definitely be back!
The employees did a great job decorating and tending to a large group for a birthday party. Very attentive and ready to please! Food is excellent as well! Thank you for a great experience!
